Dr-Carlos
Dr. Carlos Abdul-Chani

Dr. Carlos is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Carlos is a member of NJVMA (New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association), AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association). Dr. Carlos is married to Dr. Maria Cruz and is the father of two children, Monica and Chris, and recently, father-in-law to Taylor. Dr. Carlos lives in Sussex County with his Bullmastiffs, Mona and Bruce, an African Grey Parrot, Cookie, and a cat, Mr. FuFu. When Dr. Carlos is not in surgery or seeing patients, he loves to be on his mountain bike or spending time in Maine with wife, Dr. Cruz.

Dr. Maria Cruz

Dr. Maria Cruz is a Graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a degree in Veterinary Medicine. She also attended Michigan State University for a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship. Dr. Cruz is a member of NJVMA ( New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association), AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association). Dr. Cruz is married to Dr. Carlos Abdul-Chani and the mother of two children, Monica and Chris, and, recently, mother-in law to Taylor. Dr. Cruz lives in Sussex County with Dr. Carlos, their Bullmastiffs, Mona and Bruce, an African Grey Parrot, Cookie, and a cat, Mr. FuFu. When Dr. Cruz isn’t treating patients, you will find her in her gardens, weather permitting. Dr. Cruz also loves to spend time with Dr. Carlos and Mona in Maine.

Dr. Kristin Lind

Doctor

Dr. Kristen Lind-Wilson (known as Dr. Lind) was born and raised in NJ. She is a graduate from Ross University School of Vet Med and has been practicing in Sussex County for over 20 years. She is married and has two adult stepchildren, as well as two dogs named Lizzy and Chili and a cat named Rooney. In her spare time, she likes to travel and spend time with family and friends.

Practice Manager

Kim has been part of the Byram Animal Hospital family since 2018. She started as a receptionist and now keeps things running smoothly as our Practice Manager. With a degree in Business from Columbia Southern University, she brings a great mix of organization and heart to the team.

Outside of work, Kim is a proud mom of two grown daughters and a very happy Nana to her grandson. She loves spending time with her family, crocheting, enjoying a good cup of coffee, and relaxing with a good book.

Janet
Janet

Practice Manager

Janet discovered her love for animals at an early age, which inspired her to build a career spanning over 20 years in the animal care industry. A Morris Township native, she attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where she earned a double major in Graphic Design and Fine Arts, along with a minor in Art History.

While in college, Janet began working at Morris Animal Inn, where her dedication to pet wellness led her to develop a Pet Wellness Program that is still in use today. Her passion for animal care eventually guided her into the veterinary field, where she continues to expand her knowledge of pet health and provide compassionate, daily support to pet owners.
Janet currently resides in Hopatcong with her husband, David, and their English Cocker Spaniel, Cloudy. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, exploring local wineries and breweries.

Tori
CSR

Tori brings a strong background in equine care to Byram Animal Hospital, with over five years of experience as a lead technician for an equine veterinarian and many more spent working in barns. Her deep knowledge of equine medicine and hands-on experience make her a valuable addition to the team.

While transitioning to small animal care is a new chapter, Tori is enthusiastic about expanding her skills and continuing to provide compassionate service to pets and their owners. When she’s not greeting clients or answering phones, she enjoys hiking with her husband, Tim, and their three dogs—Kahlua, June, and Raider—reading, and spending time with her horse, Kasey.

Karen

After retiring from a 40-year career in government service, I chose to pursue part-time work in a field that reflects my lifelong love for animals. This passion led me to the veterinary industry, where I found a fulfilling role as a Client Service Representative.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time gardening, reading, creating diamond art, boating with my husband, relaxing on the beach, and taking walks. I especially cherish time with my adult son and daughter along with my two beloved dogs, Jasper and Lucky.

Lauren
Lauren

Technician

Lauren is a lifelong resident of Sussex and Warren Counties and currently lives in Frelinghuysen with her husband, Chris, and their six beloved cats—Skeeter, Stanley, Gus, Nero, Korben, and Leeloo. Her passion for animal care began in childhood while growing up on her family’s dairy farm, which naturally led her into the veterinary field.

Starting as a kennel assistant, Lauren worked her way up to become a seasoned Veterinary Technician with nearly 20 years of experience. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Science from Johnson College in Scranton, PA, graduating in 2006. Over the years, Lauren has contributed her skills to several veterinary hospitals before finding her home at Byram Animal Hospital.

When she’s not at work, Lauren enjoys spending time at home helping her family with the farm, curling up with a good book, four wheeling and relaxing with Chris and their fur kids.

Kristen

Technician

Kristen lives in Sparta with her husband and four children. Originally from Queens, NY, she moved to New Jersey to pursue new opportunities and attended the New York Institute of Technology, where she studied Physical Therapy. While in school, Kristen began working in a veterinary hospital in 2008—and quickly discovered her true passion for animal care.

Starting as a receptionist, Kristen’s dedication and love for animals led her to grow into her current role as a Veterinary Technician. She’s known for her warm personality, genuine compassion, and the exceptional care she provides to both pets and their owners. Kristen consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every client feels welcomed and supported.
Though she adores all animals, she has a special soft spot for Dogo Argentinos. Outside of work, Kristen enjoys spending time with her family and helping her husband with renovations on their new home.

Gianna
Gianna

Technician

Gianna has been working with animals since the age of 17, beginning her journey in 2017 as a kennel assistant. It was during this time that she discovered her deep passion for animal care. In 2021, she advanced to the role of Veterinary Assistant, where she continues to grow her skills and knowledge in the field.

She shares her home with her beloved puggle, Bambino, and remains committed to furthering her career in veterinary medicine. Gianna’s love for animals shines through in everything she does, and she looks forward to continuing her professional development in this rewarding field.

Amanda
Amanda

Technician

Amanda holds an Associate’s Degree in Biology and began her career in animal rescue before transitioning into the veterinary field. She previously worked with 11th Hour Rescue and later joined the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains, now part of VCA.

With over seven years of hands-on experience, Amanda has developed a strong skill set working with a wide range of animals—including dogs, cats, exotics, wildlife, and even some farm animals.

Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending time in nature, hiking, exploring local breweries, playing video games, and discovering new foods—she’s a proud foodie at heart!

Rocky
Rocky

In Remembrance

Rocky was part of the family at Byram Animal Hospital for many years. When Rocky wasn’t up front greeting clients at the desk, you could usually find Rocky somewhere cozy and sleeping. Rocky loved to spend time outside soaking up the sunshine, getting his treats, ALL meal times, belly rubs, and snuggling under blankets.

Meet Bruce!
Bruce is a 2-year-old, 114-pound bundle of bullmastiff joy. With a goofy grin and a heart as big as his paws, he’s the unofficial greeter of the office. He lives for belly rubs, playtime, and surprise visits from his favorite humans. Whether you’re here for work or just passing through, Bruce is ready to brighten your day with tail wags and slobbery smiles!
Mona
Meet Mona!

Mona is a 5-year-old, 110-pound bullmastiff with a gentle soul and a love for the finer things—like naps in her favorite chair and ear rubs from friendly passersby. She’s the calm counterpart to Bruce’s goofy energy, and together they make the perfect office duo. Mona and Bruce both adore long walks and hikes with their mom and dad, where they can sniff, explore, and soak up the great outdoors.

At 23 years young, Hercules is the wise and whimsical tortoise of the crew. She enjoys daily gourmet salads, slow strolls to bask in the sunshine, and relaxing bath time. Don’t let her shell fool you—Hercules has the goofiest personality and loves greeting visitors at her aquarium with curious glances and gentle charm.
